The Mountain Between Us & Fatal Vision Currently Filming in Vancouver

The Mountain Between Us stars Kate Winslet and Idris Elba

Kate Winslet and Idris Elba star in The Mountain Between Us and Scott Foley stars in Fatal Vision which are both currently filming in Vancouver and British Columbia.

The Mountain Between Us (Feature)
The Mountain Between Us is based on a novel of the same name written by Charles Martin. The story follows 2 strangers, a man and woman, who decide to take a charter plane after their original flight is delayed due to bad weather. Things go from bad to worse after their charter plane crashes and leaves them stranded on a mountain. Although they survived the crash, the two are forced to work together in order to survive the wildness and temperatures well below freezing.

Production kicked off at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) on December 5th where, ironically, several flights were delayed due to winter weather conditions.

The following day filming took place on a plane and in a hangar at Abbotsford International Airport. Unlike their first day, the weather was clear and beautiful with Mount Baker very prominent in the background.

Titanic star Kate Winslet and Idris Elba (Prometheus, Star Trek Beyond, Pacific Rim) are taking on the leading roles of Ashley Knox and Ben Payne respectively. According to IMDb, they’ll be joined by Marci T. House who has appeared in several Vancouver-based productions including Looks Like Christmas, Motive, Van Helsing, iZombie and Godzilla.

The Mountain Between Us is scheduled to continue filming in Vancouver and British Columbia until February 24th and is expected to be released later in 2017.

Fatal Vision (aka Final vision)
Fatal Vision is based on the bestselling crime novel of the same name written by Joe McGinniss. The novel was written about the famous Jeffrey MacDonald murders. He was convicted and sentenced to life in prison for murdering his pregnant wife and two daughters in February of 1970.

The 2 hour TV movie adaptation will star Scott Foley (Scandal) as McDonald. He’ll be joined by Aaron Craven (Gracepoint, Ties That Bind), Dave Annable (Brothers & Sisters, Red Band Society) and Ontario-born actress Jessica Harmon (iZombie).

Fatal Vision will be filming in Vancouver and British Columbia until February 21st and is expected to premiere in 2017 on the Investigation Discovery Network.
