Alison Sweeney (Days of Our Lives) and Cameron Mathison (All My Children) are back in British Columbia for the next installment in the Murder She Baked> series for Hallmark’s Movies & Mysteries channel. The movie was formally announced on Sunday during their event for the Television Critics Association (TCA) Press Tour.
Murder She Baked: Just Desserts (aka Murder She Baked 5) centres around Hannah Swensen (Alison Sweeney) and Detective Mike Kingston (Cameron Mathison) as they investigate the murder of one of the judges for Hannah’s Hartland Flour Bake-Off. As the pair attempt to unravel the mystery behind the murder, their relationship hits another level. Gabriel Hogan (Heartland) and Barbara Niven (Cedar Cove) will also return to reprise their roles as Norman Rhodes and Delores Swensen respectively.
The Murder She Baked series is based on the best-selling ‘Hannah Swensen’ novel series written by Joanne Fluke. In addition to the thrilling murder-mystery storylines, each book also includes several delicious dessert recipes.
Since wrapping the last Murder She Baked movie ‘A Deadly Recipe’ in the spring of 2016, all 4 of the main cast have been busy filming other Hallmark projects around Vancouver and British Columbia. Alison filmed The Irresistible Blueberry Farm throughout July and August. Cameron and Gabriel both filmed Christmas movies; A Christmas to Remember and Christmas List respectively. Barbara filmed season 1 of the hugely successful new series Chesapeake Shores on the east coast of Vancouver Island from May through July. Not surprisingly, Chesapeake Shores earned a season 2 order which was also announced during Sunday’s Hallmark TCA event.
Murder She Baked: Just Desserts will be filming in British Columbia until February 6th and premieres Sunday, March 26th at 9pm on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
