Doomsday – ABC

Status:
Production wrapped; filmed in Vancouver from March 11th to April 3rd

Who’s in it?

What’s it about?
After 911, the US government put together a handpicked group of the top scientists and entertainers in the world with the goal of brainstorming every possible doomsday scenario they can think of. Although the program has been shut down for years, the group is brought back together after one of the disasters from their list becomes a reality. The TV pilot is written by Mark Bianculli (The Good Neighbor) and VJ Boyd (Justified).

The Trustee – ABC

Status:

What’s it about?
The Trustee is a 2017 TV pilot for a 1 hour comedy written by Jay Scherick and David Ronn who are best known for writing the Smufs. The story follows an unusual partnership that is formed between a female cop named Eliza (Meaghan Rath) and an ex-con who is currently serving as the police department’s trustee while completing her sentence. Although the 2 don’t always see eye to eye, they become a great team. Power Rangers star Elizabeth Banks serves as Executive Producer alongside Max Hanelma.

The Crossing – ABC

Status:
Picked up for a series order at ABC May 11th via TVLine.com. Filmed in Vancouver/Vancouver Island from March 13th to 30th.

What’s it about?
After the fallout from a war, refugees from 250 years in the future travel back in time to flee their country and seek solace in an American town in present day. But there’s a catch: the war stricken country they were running away from was also America. The story centres around the town’s sheriff, a federal agent and a mother who’s been separated from her daughter.

Reverie – NBC

Status:
Picked up for a series order at NBC May 12th via Deadline.com. Pilot filmed in Vancouver starting March 13th to April 1st. Series will film in Los Angeles (thanks @lemon_buzz for the info!).

What’s it about?
What would happen if you used a VR system that was so good that you didn’t want to come back to reality? Following the launch of a state of the art VR project called Reverie, unforeseen circumstances cause users to be left in what is presumed to be a permanent comatose state. Mara, a college professor specializing in human behaviour with a history as a detective with the FBI, is called upon to help coax the patients back to real life. During the mission Mara realizes that she may have found a way to deal with her own painful past. Mara is played by Sarah Shahi. Dennis Haysbert plays Charlie Ventanaana, Mara’s former boss who is currently involved with the Reverie project and is the one who brings her on board.

Wisdom of the Crowd – CBS

Picked up for a series order at CBS May 12th via TVLine.com. Pilot filmed in Vancouver/British Columbia from March 19th to April 5th. Series will film in Los Angeles starting in July (thanks @lemon_buzz for the info!)

Who’s in it?
Jeremy Piven (Entourage), Richard T. Jones (Santa Clarita Diet), Natalia Tena (Game of Thrones), Jake Matthews (Bosch), Monica Potter (Parenthood)

What’s it about?
Ted Humphrey, best known for his work on The Good Wife, is adapting a story based on an Israeli series called Wisdom of the Crowd for a CBS 2017 TV pilot. Set in San Francisco, the series is centred around a man in the tech industry who creates a program that changes the way crimes are solved by drawing upon the knowledge of its users. Although his tech is great for solving crime in San Francisco, his primary focus is to get to the bottom of who murdered his daughter.

Wisdom of the Crowd airs on Sundays at 8pm on CBS starting in the fall of 2017.

Singularity – FX

Status:
Dropped by network; Filmed in Vancouver/British Columbia from May 8th to May 17th

Who’s in it?
Damon Wayans Jr. (New Girl, Let’s Be Cops), Amanda Lund (Goosebumps), Langston Kerman (Insecure), Michelle Buteau (Broad City)

What’s it about?
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the Vancouver-born duo who brought their controversial comedy The Interview to Vancouver back in 2013, have teamed up with Silicon Valley’s Sonny Lee for a futuristic comedy TV pilot. The story is set in a world where AI programs have become smarter than humans themselves. Rogen and Goldberg will also be filming their latest feature Game Over, Man! in Vancouver this spring.

The Good Doctor – ABC

Status:
Picked up for a series order at ABC May 11th via Deadline.com. Pilot filmed in Vancouver/British Columbia on March 21st to April 6th. Series is expected to start filming in the summer of 2017 in Vancouver.

Freddie Highmore (Bates Motel), Nicholas Gonzalez (How To Get Away With Murder), Chuku Modu (Game of Thrones), Hill Harper (CSI: NY) and Irene Keng (Grey’s Anatomy), Richard Schiff (The West Wing), Beau Garrett (Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce)

What’s it about?
Written by House creator David Shore, the story follows Dr. Shaun Murphy, played by Bates Motel star Freddie Highmore. Dr. Murphy is a young, small town surgeon with autism who ends up becoming part of the pediatric department at San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital.

Misfits – Freeform

Status:

What’s it about?
The series is based the popular British TV series of the same name that ran from 2009 to 2013. It’s being adapted for Freeform by writer/producer Diane Ruggiero-Wright (iZombie, Veronica Mars). After being caught in the cross-hairs of a freak storm, a group of young offenders in a community service program develop supernatural abilities.

Snowpiercer – TNT

Status:
Picked up for a series order at TNT January 10th, 2018 via Variety.com. Pilot filmed in Vancouver/British Columbia on August 28th to October 3rd.

Jennifer Connelly (Requiem for a Dream, A Beautiful Mind), Daveed Diggs (Broadway’s Hamilton), Mickey Sumner (Frances Ha, The End of the Tour), Annalise Basso (Captain Fantastic), Sasha Frolova (The Interestings), Alison Wright (The Americans, The Accountant), Susan Park (Vice Principals), Lena Hall (All My Children, Broadway’s Hedwig)

What’s it about?
Snowpiercer is based on the 2013 futuristic thriller movie of the same name written by Bong Joon-ho. Set seven years from now, all that’s left of humanity is inside a train which is forever traveling the Earth, now a frozen tundra barely recognizable from what we once knew. Inside the train, the same social and political challenges exist as they did before. The stakes are heightened by each individuals fight to survive and those who remain have become clearly divided by their social/economic status. Among the train’s “first class” passengers is Melanie Cavill (Connelly) who serves as the crew’s PA announcer. She’s become obsessed with understanding more about the “lower class” passengers. Daveed Diggs plays a prisoner caught up in a movement that could disrupt the life everyone has become so accustomed to.

Deadly Class – Syfy
