The Sweetest Christmas (aka Sugar and Spice) (Hallmark TV Movie)

The Sweetest Christmas is Lacey’s second Hallmark movie filmed in BC this year, the first of which was Moonlight in Vermont. She also filmed a Hallmark Christmas movie in the area last year called A Wish For Christmas.

In The Sweetest Christmas, Lacey plays Kylie, a pastry chef whose talent just landed her in the American Gingerbread Competition finals. But the feeling is “bittersweet” since she just came out of a failed engagement. Despite that, Kylie is determined to get her career back on track and take home the grand prize at the competition. Her plans are almost foiled due to a oven malfunction, but in an unlikely turn of events, her former high school sweetheart, Bobby, lends a helping hand. Although his intentions are admirable, they too many get in the way.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Lacey will be joined by Lea Coco (Sinister 2, Queen Sugar) and Jonathan Adams (Last Man Standing, American Dreams). Vancouver’s own Ava Grace Cooper (When Calls the Heart, The Perfect Bride) will play Hannah – thank you @trudy_ptm for the info!

The Sweetest Christmas continues filming in British Columbia until June 28th and will premiere during Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas event later this year. Update: The Sweetest Christmas premieres on November 11th at 8pm on the Hallmark Channel in the US.

At Home In Mitford (TV Movie)

Based on author Jan Karon’s best-selling book of the same name, At Home In Mitford is centred around a writer named Cynthia Copperstone. In an effort to break her writer’s block and jump start her career, Cynthia take her cat and leaves her life in Boston behind in favour of a small town called Mitford, North Carolina. While looking for inspiration, she meets Father Tim Kavanagh, a pastor in town. The two end up joining forces to help a boy named Dooley who recently lost his family. It turns out that their time with Dooley helps them work through their own challenges and even find love.

Cedar Cove star Andie MacDowell will portray Cynthia alongside Cameron Mathison (All My Children, Murder She Baked) who plays Tim. BC’s own Nicholas Holmes will play Dooley. Nicholas just recently wrapped up a role in the big budget feature Hard Powder, and has also had roles on Bates Motel, Arrow and in The Shack.

At Home in Mitford continues filming in British Columbia until June 30th and will premiere Saturday, August 19th at 9pm on Hallmark Channel in the US.
